KEY STAGE 5:
A Level Ceramics:
Component 1: Portfolio (60% of A Level) – Students develop their 3D building skills mainly in clay. Through workshops they will experiment with techniques such as throwing, coiling, slab building, various image transfer techniques and casting. With self-directed themes students will explore areas that they are interested in in order to develop personal outcomes. Trips to local and national galleries.
Component 2: Externally set assignment (40% of A Level, preparatory period followed by 15 hours supervised time) - students respond to their chosen starting point and develop a range of experiments and ideas. They complete a final piece in the 15 hour exam
